View from Hinds Road, town of Kingsbury in Washington County, NY.

Old barns dot the landscape of New York State, serving as reminders of the agricultural history of the region. The passage of time and influence of the elements often cause these historic structures to fall into disrepair. Fortunately, there are a number of grant options and other financial incentives available for those looking to restore old barns in New York State.

Public Grants
Barns that are listed on the state or national historic register are eligible for historic preservation grants through programs administered by the State Historic Preservation Office. The grant programs factor in location as well as historic significance of the barn. Grants may also be available from local state municipalities depending on the historical significance of the barn and its intended purpose.

I spent many years as a professional Interior Designer, but am now additionally devoting myself to the art of photography. Based in the foothillls of the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York, many of my photos highlight the beauty and rich history of the region.
